Passing the roadworks on Grange Road and saw a completely useless sign. Halfway through the disruption is a blue "Cyclists Dismount" sign.

I believe these signs are often put up in cyclelanes as a loophole in the governance of roadworks. Either these signs go up (often with "Cycle Route Closed") or there has to be an alternative route devised. As the latter fills most contractors with horror, they often go for the easy option. I'd like to see that loophole closed.

The second point is that this is halfway through the roadworks. What's the advice prior to this?

There is the obvious issue as demonstrated by the car passing me badly shows. Some drivers have no idea about driving safely around vunerable road users and have no patience, even given the red light ahead.

The only good point is that it is correct to be blue, so the sign is advisory only (although still often misleads some people who think it's a requirement).
