This forms part of the cycle infrastructure around the 'Queens Drive' Park & Ride in Nottingham. The photo I have submitted illustrates what is the most laughable part of the infrastructure which is generally poor in this specific site. In addition, the way in which a shared pedestrian cycle lane which leads up to this point, particularly the way it leaves cyclists unaided in crossing the entrance and exit points to the Park & Ride, is illustrative of the 'get them off the road whatever' line of thinking in my opinion. There is essential infrastructure on the far side of the Park & Ride side that enables cyclists to cross the River Trent alongside the A52, so it is desirable to use this infrastructure despite its problems. The photo shows the Park & Ride gate infrastructure directly in the middle of the cycle side of a shared pedestrian facility. Clearly dangerous at night, it creates a pinch point in addition to leaving the cyclist absolutely clear about their low priority in the scheme of things.
