Central island hazards from Packmoor to Chell, Turnhurst Rd. Stoke on Trent. This section of road has several central islands where signs and road markings are in place for cyclists to divert off the road for the short length of the island and then return to the road, metal posts are also positioned at the exits causing a constriction which causes cyclists to deviate towards the centre of the road. these diversion are not legally binding on cyclists as the deviation is too inconvenient but the expectation of some motorists is that they are. Never seen any cyclists using these diversion facilities, you have to glance behind, deliberately place yourself in a commanding road position and hope for the best. I dislike riding this section and use it only as a last resort.
