This crossing is planned to be removed by Rodney Bass and Essex County council, and moved some 200 metres further away from the roundabout (on right).
"t is proposed to remove the existing crossing on Colne Bank Avenue, to the west of its junction with Westway, to reduce the perceived impediment to roads users exiting Colne Bank Roundabout, thereby preventing the blockage to the roundabout. It is noted that this will have an impact on a key pedestrian and cycle route. To mitigate this it is proposed to provide a second route
utilising the Sheepen Road subway.
It is also proposed to provide an alternative crossing point on Colne BankAvenue in the vicinity of Sheepen Road. A temporary 40mph speed limit will be introduced in conjunction with the pedestrian crossing."
