The large chicanes that obstruct the cycle path that crosses from Walker Court across Nicholson Way onto the green space around Arbury Community Centre obstruct the cycle path. It is difficult to navigate around them without falling off on an ordinary bike. It is very difficult to navigate them with a trailer and probably impossible with a cargo bike/child carrier.
This is a major route to connect the north-west of Kings Hedges to the Arbury Community centre, Arbury Court shopping and other facilities. Hence, it is important that passage through it is unobstructed.
My preferred solution would be to remove both chicanes completely replacing them with one post in the middle of the path to prevent cars coming through.
My second preference would be to remove the chicane that is furthest north (furthest from the junction with the Nicholson Way path).
My third preference would be for the northmost chicane to be moved at least 1m further north.
The path is 3600mm wide. The chicanes are both 1900mm long and the distance between them is 1310mm.
Fixing this may involve negotiation with City Homes.
