UPDATE AUGUST 2018 ****New cycle parking has been installed but the middle stand appears wonky. It's likely that an adult sized person has sat on the middle stand and used their feet against the adjacent stand to lever the damage at the feet of the stand. The remedy may be to relocate the middle stand nearer the shops so that the 2 remaining stands are too far apart to reach in this way. Either the metal is weak or the installation is not good either way installers need to get back to correct. (If it had been collision damage would have expected the end ones to be wonky) I hope that all other recent installations will be checked for integrity so problems are not repeated in future. In this type of location the stand acts to deter illegal car parking therefore the stand needs to be of a sturdier and more substantial construction and installion. Reported to Trafford request ID 1051038
NB these stands are only 40mm tube and the metal is quite thin at about 1.2 mm thick. Older/other #86815 #102441 stands in the area are 50mm tube with thicker metal. In places where vehicles might damage Sainsbury's stands are 75mm tube. The ground support has also failed, one of the feet does not have concrete fully surrounding at the base (less than 180 degrees around is embedded in concrete of unknown depth ). Compare the stand at #52666 the 50mm metal tube is intact despite apparent abuse.
