The inevitable result of placing a barrier in the way of the path and not diverting the path directly to the forced crossing point - a worn path across the grass.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but is that fence panel not meant to be installed so the bars allow visibility the other way, i.e. from the roadway to the left of the picture to the footway crossing point on the right, rather than from the roadway on the crossing to the footway behind the railing, so small children about to cross can be seen by drivers?
