Stockport Altrincham Road/Northenden Road. The road has been resurfaced and yet the cycle lanes are being repainted exactly where they were before in the wrong place !!! Only 1 metre is inadequate and it's better without the lanes. Bizarrely it's safer if the cars park in the cycle lane which forces cyclists to take up a more prominent position (hopefully the cyclist will have the sense NOT to cycle in the door zone).
Even worse further up the road the lines are being repainted in the door zone of parked cars. A complete waste of money AND dangerous. see also #91261
With lanes (especially so narrow) drivers are encouraged to overtake cyclists less than 1.5 m clearance. In turn cyclists are being encouraged to cycle too close to the kerb through the gap created by the pedestrian refuge. #opclosepass #opconsiderate
