What is needed is wider pavements - not signs telling pedestrians to mind the gap on a pavement that is obviously too narrow. The road is very wide here. UPDATE 25th June: barriers have been installed to widen the footway: #139535

Just putting stickers down to tell pedestrians to "Maintain the Gap" when the pavement squeezes between a building and railings is rather missing the point.

Metal drainage channel on the London Road swing bridge reduces the effective width of the road and can be intimidating for cyclists riding close to the edge.

Warrington Council discovered that cyclists were being knocked down at this location. Rather than fix the problem, they thought the best approach was just to put up some red signs.

Direction Sign

Left-hand filter lane and signal for a minor road mean cyclists need to filter into lane 2 of the busy A49 in order to head straight-on towards Warrington town centre.
