'O' (see #60726)

It's disappointing that the opportunity wasn't taken to widen the shared-use footway during the Borders Railway bridge parapet works (see also #60727).

The junction between Old Dalkeith Road and Melville Gate Road, seen from the shared-use footway from Dalkeith. Cyclists cross the gateway here. On the left can be seen a sign for the Edinburgh City Bypass parallel cycle route (see #60724).

The shared-use footway from Dalkeith approaching the Edinburgh City Bypass where cycling is (not unsurprisingly) prohibited. A parallel cycle route was established, signed with 'RR' signs, but is of variable quality.

Crossing at Lugton Brae. Limited visibility of traffic coming from the right.

The shared-use footway crosses over to the other side of the road.
