Stud lights have been fitted on this path and, amazingly, the grass is kept well trimmed, so they do not get obscured.

School Lane, Barton - gated link from Burwash Manor to Barton church and village

Hedgerow saplings collapsing across the path at waist height, forming a soggy barrier in wet weather. This path, like so many, needs better maintenance, particularly of summer growth.

Fall hazard. Steel borehole lining and cap left projecting over an inch above the path surface next to the busy A606 at the M11 intersection

Not much respect for speed limits in evidence on "New Road" in Barton. The school is just around that bend, as is the post office, pub and village centre.

The path across the Leys Used by dog walkers and by children cycling to school.

The footway alongside the A603 Wimpole Rd Used by primary school children from outside the 30mph limit when cycling to school. There is ample width to upgrade this to a proper shared path

Barton village - lots of poorly used road space

Crossing the M11(N) slip road - poor visibility. The road alignment encourages speed, and makes it difficult for people waiting to cross to anticipate which exit a car might be heading for.

M11 bridge - some cyclists prefers the road to the narrow footway conversion

M11 bridge - path is much too narrow. See how far people ride away from the edge barrier, and how close that puts them to the kerb.

M11 bridge approach - See how much clearance people give each other and how close that puts them to the path edge. This path could do with being wider here, and is much to narrow across the bridge itself.

Gratuitous give way markings at farm entrance

You have to give way to traffic directly behind you - very difficult to anticipate and see.

Pedestrians to the left, horses to the right for a short stretch - cyclists are better off on the asphalt to the left rather than the loose road planeings to the right.

Pile of road planeings used to make the Barton-Grantchester bridleway very slithery.
