This is what happens when you resurface the car driving lane and not the cycle lane. A few years later and the surface has deteriorated so much that it can barely support the road markings.

The usual obstructive parking encroaching the door-zone cycle lane and pavement parking in Alderman Road. Maybe it's time for the Alderman Road scheme to be ripped up and a cycleway built next to the footway and car parking placed next to t ... [more]

The Govan Road shared-use footway with the door-zone buffer strip in action.

The parking layby is again too narrow for ordinary cars to be reliably parked within, so eroding the buffer zone that is meant to contain door openings.

The proposed cycleway for Jura Street will be on the left side, and end at a toucan crossing across Paisley Road West to Bellahouston Park. So this door-zone cycle lane will be removed.

What a joyous evening for the infrastructure provided by @hantsconnect to lead to a #dooring IF i was using it. #DoorZone #DutchReach https://t.co/d5gLRwM8A4

And it wouldn't be #GlasgowCycleInfraDay17 without mentioning the killing doorzone of Kilmarnock Rd. Unacceptable danger from @GlasgowCC https://t.co/wz8LrYtOGE

The cycle lane shifts from the kerbside to the door-zone.

The narrow door-zone cycle lane swerves into the back of some parked cars. On the other side of the road, there's a car parked partly in the cycle lane, partly on the footway.

The Broomhouse cycle lane goes over a flattened build-out, then becomes a painted door-zone cycle lane.

The view along Calder Street.

A door-zone cycle lane past a layby, and if you get hit, there's nowhere for passing motorists to swerve to avoid hitting you.

The parking bays opposite the cemetery entrance on Holmston Road. When the segregated cycle lane was put in, the bays were moved to roughly in front of where the car with headlights on is. The marks are still visible on the road surface.

Although the parking bays are slightly wider than is the case with similar door-zone cycle lanes in Glasgow, the cycle lane is still where car doors will open into.

Hybrid (raised) cycle lane in the door zone of a marked parking bay.

Cycle lane in the dooring zone of a parking bay. This is made much more dangerous by the fact that the white line conceals a slight step down to the main carriageway which is likely to cause a cyclist to fall into the path of motor traffic ... [more]

Path ends into driver's car door. Hope he doesn't decide to get out just as I approach.

Painted cycle lanes on West Street. Perhaps the designer could look up the Traffic Signs Manual's road markings section to see how cycle lanes are meant to start.

Buffer strip on edge of shared-use footway outside Scotland Street School museum not actually wide enough to give full protection from opening car doors, and double yellow lines don't mean there will never be opening car doors there.

How wide is a car door? Answer: a bloody lot wider than that "buffer"! @S4CGlasgow http://t.co/DGu9j9prVy

The door-zone cycle lane in Albert Drive reverts to the kerbside.

The westbound cycle lane in Albert Drive is also in the door-zone.

The Albert Drive cycle lane moves from kerbside to the door-zone.

The cycletrack gets narrower at the car parking layby, presumably to offer protection from the door-zone. But it just juts out without any transition.

New door-zone cycle lanes on West Street, including a zig-zag where the road changes width.

Is the designer of this facility designing for triangular cars in the parking bay? Cycle lane in the doorzone.

Watch out for that door!

Oldenburg cycleways – the cycleway here has white blocks to mark the 'dooring zone'. (from the 1960s or 1970s).

See clip at http://youtu.be/4_ZoDhkZuYs Parked up on a double yellow and in a cyclepath. And there's space not very far away to park perfectly legally. Note that the car is parked so the doorzone covers the whole cyclepath, I pass very c ... [more]

Route sign for Portway cycleway. Pity that the pole obstructs the cycleway itself, forcing cyclists into the passenger-side doorzone of cars parked in the adjacent layby.

Narrow door-zone cycle lanes on Kilmarnock Road. Cyclists cycling outside of the cycle lanes get extra hassle from passing motorists. Layby isn't even wide enough for normal-sized cars to park in!
