It looks as if the absolutely appalling stretch of broken road surface at the Station Road junction is getting some overnight attention.

Buses and construction trucks turning into Station Road mean that this storm grating is a permanent danger to cyclists.

Interesting mix of two-tier stands with Sheffield stands for added security - I assume these belong to the university's Faculty of Education.
The road was recently closed here for a couple of days (#177601) - but the deathtraps were not touched.

Some urgently needed repairs on this major route for key workers to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
There's no traffic during the Covid-19 lockdown, but still, the police should not be leaving cars in the cycle lane.
For some reason the cycle route sign has been moved to a separate pole behind the one it was on (see #31604) and can't be seen clearly now.
Contraflow cycle lane to Cambridge Biomedical Campus - on the 'wrong' side of the normal lane with the traffic flow.
Newly constructed Cross City Cycling scheme but the '2.2 metre wide' refuge is considerably narrowed by the poor placement of poles. And seems to be a trash collection point as well (probably due to the wind).
Hills Road cycleway northbound. The footway which was previously shared-use is now marked with a pedestrian symbol.
The new cycle paths on Hills Road are great, but until I found myself trying to recommend a route for a 16 year old to get past the massive roundabout at this major entrance to Addenbrooke's I hadn't realised the big gaps in provision. The … [more]

Now completed, I think, the cycle track and floating bus stops northbound along Hills Road. Work on the southbound track begins in January 2016.
Start of new segregated cycle track on Hills Road, Cambridge - one side only, so presumably southbound cyclists will be on the footway to the left, ie effectively riding on the right.
Thank you, Skanska - but there's no conflict between cars and cyclists here as there's no need to encroach on the MCL - it's only buses and HGVs that would have problems.
I've been trying to get this trench fixed since December 12 - a real hazard for cyclists turning left into Station Road.
This bus was blocking the cycle lane all the way down Hilsl Road - there's absolutely no need to filter left for Station Road so early.
At last the pavement is getting wider - for far too long the footway was only as wide as the left hand side of that green box. There's still a width restriction beyond in force because of ongoing works.
The people-hostile barriers have gone! Now where do we lock our bikes when eating at the Saffron Brasserie?
