A messy start to the cycle track on Western Esplanade, and particularly so for eastbound cyclists, who are directed onto the footway, and then left to choose between continuing along it and the carriageway via the central reservation gap.

The western end of the Eastern Esplanade cycle track. The road markings suggest cyclists are meant to return to the carriageway, but a significant proportion of people on bikes were using the seafront promenade.
Access to the Flitch Way at the former Takeley station - unpaved, totally unsigned, though it could be a very useful link from Bishops Stortford or Braintree to Stansted Airport.
