A Sustrans milepost. NCN56

Liverhenge 🤣

The NCN56 cycleway is basically a scantily signed footway that crosses the road here.

An ad-hoc ramp has been concreted onto these two steps.

The three graces on a dull day viewed by a cyclist on ncr 56 heading for the Wirral and a trip around the coast to Chester. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pier_Head https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferry_Cross_the_Mersey

@roadcc the ncn needs some of that 7bn spending on it! http://t.co/Eszdx5DAvj

This section of single lane road is controlled by traffic signals. NCN 56 is on the footway.

This is NCN56, on a site that has been totally rebuilt in recent years. Everything here could have been done differently.

Is a gate really necessary between the cycle path and public road ahead?

A gate at the entrance to the cycle path, but no gate needed on private driveway

End of shared-use footway

No effort appears to have been made to convert this footway to shared-use other than to put up signs.

Lots of vehicles triggering the 50mph/Slow Down signs on A41 dual carriageway on approach to at-grade junction (see also #53676)

Personally, I'd choose the shared-use footways over the roadway any day! This was the only photo I took at this location where the '(50)/Slow Down' electronic signs weren't lit (see also #53677).

This gate easy to get around without hindering path users too much, but enough to slow users down at road crossing

Messy, signs obscuring each other, counter will only count those that don't take shortcut, all poorly thought out

Mandatory left turn ahead. No mention of whether cyclists can turn right into the contraflow cycle lane.

Various bits of cycle track across traffic islands, allowing cyclists to make otherwise banned turns, and to provide access to contraflow facility around one side of the one-way system.

A short length of protected cycle lane at Childwall, to stop drivers of motor vehicles cutting the corner.

A barrier, but less severe than the others on the Liverpool Loop Line, and a dropped kerb, on Well Lane.
