One of these children said 'There's a lot of people on bikes today' when they saw us. But these were just about the only others we'd seen in Royston.
The Green, Royston. Annoying road closure with no through connection for cycling. There is a bit of tarmac on one side that makes sort of a ramp. Easily fixed, not much money to open this as an alternative route for bikes from the busy … [more]
Royston cycleways - a friend has described this underpass as 'absolutely fantastic'. #49546 It links two parts of northern Royston that were separated by the railway.
Royston cycleways - a sign explains that this route is not a public right of way, but that the landowner has granted permission for walking and cycling. Well done whoever negotiated that.
Very narrow cycle lanes like these force cyclists into the gutter and encourage fast, close overtaking by motor vehicles.
A much bigger cycle park has appeared here since I was last in Royston, well done whoever - I think it was a Sustrans Connect2 project.

Cycle track alongside the A10 - typically for Royston, the estate to the right is sealed off behind a hedge, but a little bit of permeability would open up routes on quiet dead-end streets.

Paths give good permeability to the estates of northeastern Royston, but there's no actual link to the road.
Two covered cycle shelters at Royston station - smaller shelter on the down (Cambridge-bound) platform also visible at rear.
