No Cycling on this staircase! The stairs lead to a footbridge attached to the side of the railway bridge high above the river. Probably as quick to cycle to the Millennium Bridge now than to lug a bike up and down these stairs.

Canal access from Marsh Lane is via a spiral staircase

The NCN62 connection between the canal path and Ormskirk Road is via a flight of steps, although a wheeling ramp has been provided.

Since this sign is not visible for those approaching from the opposite direction, I can only assume that this sign is aimed at cyclists cycling down the spiral stairs!

The lifts are small and the guide channel dysfunctional. People have to carry their bikes up the stairs.

No cycling down the stairs. There is also a longer ramp as an alternative route to cycle down.

The sign reads "Do not struggle down the stairs, a lift is available".

Carrying a bike up the stairs - necessary if the lifts are out of action. No gutters or channels have been added to this brand new bridge, which could make this task significantly less strenuous.

When the lifts are out of action you have to carry your bike up and down the stairs. There are no channels or gutters, and this photo shows how steep the steps are and what a struggle it can be.
