When I think that a bike left for weeks at these racks has been abandoned then I turn it upside down. This was a Raleigh Chiltern, worth around £70: http://findthatbike.co.uk/search.php?searching=yes&s=chiltern

Cargo bike in Thoday Street.

These racks are very heavily used and in their desperate need to park securely the bikes are being moved so that more bikes can be attached. The result looks very untidy and is not a great advertisement for more racks, which is what is real ... [more]

Vital footway space taken by bikes and cars.

Bikes dumped outside a neighbours house after the council ignored my abandoned bike reports for months. Note also in the background: motor vehicles parked across the footway and bins causing obstruction.

An unofficial looking sign has recently appeared that reads 20mph please slow down. Possibly related to #104097?

Vehicle parked overhanging the cycle parking buildout (which has lost its protective bollard) - making it harder for us to wheel our bikes in and out of the house.

Locks tagged by the council for removal. A week later they were gone.

Unofficial 20 mph signs have been screwed to a telegraph pole and a tree on Thoday Street outside the pub. Is it related to #107294 I wonder?

Two apparently dumped bikes that have been there for a few days. Certainly not in safe rideable condition and which have been reported to the city council abandoned bike service.

Thoday Street racks. City rangers have helpfully cleared away an abandoned bike that was looking a mess. I've now asked them to remove the two old locks that are attached to the rack.

The great snow of 2017.

Proof of need for cycle parking in this part of Thoday Street. See #95140. Added as an opportunity on Consult Cambs: http://consultcambs.uk.engagementhq.com/making-space-for-people/maps/comment-map-issues-and-opportunities#marker-136 ... [more]

Two bikes are parked here, one against the lamppost and the other against the decapitated sewer vent and there's a double yellow line in between. What an excellent place for some cycle parking stands! See #95248.

The ride to Cambridge Cycling Campaign's 20th birthday picnic passing the new racks on Thoday St - there was a bakfiets at each which it would probably have been a real struggle to get in and out of a rear garden before.

Cycle parking finished off at last and already being used.

Photo taken by Cambridgeshire Highways' contractor - we're waiting for the tarmac to cool off. 20mph campaigners happen to be in town at the moment when these racks were finished.
