Entrance to Auchenshuggle Woods, off London Rd. Gate with sprung hinges onto gravel path. Locals who cycle often use southern pavement of London Rd to get to Auchenshuggle (despite Spaces for People lanes on road).
The path from the allotments (see #170043) reaches the playing fields car park via this gate. The kerb could be lowered to make it more accessible.
While it is possible to cycle through from the allotments to the playing fields at Pollok Country Park, the path through the woods is unsurfaced and muddy in places, so won't become one of my regular routes through the park.
A dumped motorbike partly blocking the path between the railway bridge at Cartcraigs Road and Kennishead Road, plus a shopping trolley in amongst the trees.
Having established that the path through the woods wasn't particularly useful for cycling, I continued along the path until I came to this barrier. Although the path continues ahead, there is no break in the barrier down the middle of the … [more]
While at Canniesburn Toll I decided to see whether the path through the woods to the west was suitable for upgraded for cycling. But it wasn't really.
Paths around the north side of the Malls Mire nature reserve are less formal than those around the centre.
The path through the woods at Cathkin is usable on this section, but some parts are too steep, including crossfall, to cycle all the way. The path ends before the connection to Burnside Road, so it is necessary to rejoin the busy Cathkin … [more]
I had intended to head west through to the Cathkin Braes mountain biking site, but the path was too muddy to cycle, so I headed in the opposite direction instead.
The road from South Cathkin Farm joins Cathkin Road, and opposite there is a cut-through to the parallel path through the woods.
No dropped kerb at the turn from Auchinlea Road onto the Seven Lochs Trail. The footway is not shared-use. Given the busy traffic around the entrance to the Fort shopping centre, it may be worth considering upgrading this footway, but … [more]
Working from the map on the Falkirk Helix website, I've decided this must be the junction where the HArTT cycle route turns in all directions, in order to do a loop around Callendar Park in addition to the woods. However, only the yellow … [more]
A crossroads of paths in Callendar Woods, and just a solitary marker post for the John Muir Way. Nothing for the HArTT cycle route.
A 3-way junction in Callendar Woods. As this is meant to be on the HArTT cycle route, I'd expect some sort of route information. The post on the right is for a circular walking/jogging route around the woods from Callendar Park.
Helpful. Ed: The sign reads: "Callendar Woods Path Network" then in much smaller text: "Scottish Rights of Way and Access Society, Edinburgh"
A fairly smooth unbounded track through the forestry at Dunsyston, avoiding a busier road through Gartness on the way to Chapelhall. But could equally go on towards Salsburgh.
A junction of tracks in Callendar Woods. I saw a few people jogging through the woods, but no-one else cycling.
A paint mark possibly for some sort of forthcoming work on the path through the Luggiebank Wood Wildlife Reserve.
Access between the path beyond Lochburn Road and the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath. Behind the camera, rough paths continue through the woods towards Vaila St.
A sneak preview of NCN862 Littlewood Greenway, an almost entirely traffic-free route from Kirkby to Liverpool. http://t.co/dgmGbsaBEK [Location approximate]
On the left the path along former railway embankment to Eurocentral, on the right steps to bridge across North Calder Water to Calderbank.
Path along former railway embankment, with dip then steep slope to scramble down to get to woodlands track. Hopefully this stretch will be improved shortly.
Small kissing gate on path to Eurocentral, a marginal improvement on the wooden gate wired shut with a "Keep Out" sign that used to be here.
Cycle parking stands next to car park and across road from café at Chatelherault Country Park UPDATE: One set of stands has been moved to a more conspicuous location seen at #49747
