Article on cargo bikes in Bordeaux

A perfectly rideable but very steep route.

The surface here doesn't look great but it's actually nice and smooth to ride on. You can get some good speed here.

Early autumn heather in full bloom

Adding this simply to show that choosing this route to cycle along would be a very bad idea. The north side is just about cycleable - but the south side is nigh impossible and very difficult even to walk on.

Don't enter the railway line to Accrington here - enter it further northwest! The path here is very narrow and unsuitable for cycling.

A view of the very tired old footbridge over the former railway.

Follow signposts and narrow hairpen gravel path down to a lovely playpark in St Fillans.

A steep climb on Redbrook Lane NCN4 My first post hope I've done this right!

Not suitable for cycling (at least not for a while) but there's an old footpath alongside Hawke Brook that's been used for generations to gain access from Clowne Road, to Church Road, although it's a lot less used these days than 30 years a ... [more]

Old path from Clowne Road to Church Road than runs alongside Hawke Brook, a lot more overgrown and disused than it was in the 80s!

Former Shuttlewood water treatment works. Possibly a way of forming a connection to the old Oxcroft Branch Line and then onto Seymour from the Oxcroft/Bolsover area

Site of former Shuttlewood water treatment works, all been flattened now, but the old track to the site remains, and could provide access to Mill Lane/ the former oxcroft disposal point site.

Old lane up to Bentinck Road. The terraced houses were built for Oxcroft Colliery, and the lane was used by the miners to get to work until the colliery closed in the 1970s.

Drainage channels under Woodhouse Lane. There is/was an underpass here, it was filled in after the landscaping of the former pit tip was completed.

Why Shköder, Albania, is a cycling city - bikes were introduced by the Swedish consul in 1907. The only real infrastructure is plentiful parking, but that's enough for a strong cycling culture to survive.

Church Road towards Stanfree. An old lane in need of some TLC

Church Road, a decent surface here

Path on Church Road, needs improving to make it easier to cycle on.

Overgrown pathway on Church Road, flatter than the proper path which has deep ruts but needs some TLC to make it easier to bike on. Unfortunately this lane suffers due to motorbike use.

Path along hawke brook used by local people, would be nice to see it as a proper walk

Track leading up towards A632 /arkwright /bridge. Not currently accessible on the bike, but could be a great alternative in time.
