Plant life has encroached heavilly onto this already very narrow footpath . Council really needs to cut it back asap. If you're wearing shorts mind the damned nettles

Its brave man or a fool that attempts to cross the roundabout to the left of this picture at peak traffic times....but there is an alternative.... follow the footpath shown here facing east towards the m1 and you'll find a pelican (toucan?) crossing leading to a rough footpath . Track / Road bikes may find it better to wheel it but hybrids / mtbs will be fine. Getting a bit overgrown and needs weeding soon!

Start of the path that links north to south sides of breakspear way getting seriously overgrown with bushes and nettles through lack of use. I wouldnt advise riding it on a road bike as its quite rough but MTB / Hybrids will be fine.

This photo shows the access to the little used footpath that links north and south sides of breakspear way follow the line of the signpost and head towards the highways agency fence (background) the path follows the perimeter - if the photo appears rotated its down to the app which insists on loading it on its side no matter what :-)

hours and times of the car park and cycle hire at Monmouth taken late 2010.

I <think> it was supposed to be open on the day, but for some reason it wasn't so probably best to check before depending on it for your ride / trip

plenty of good cycle parking / lock-up points at the new Sainsburys supermarket! although a little far away from prying eyes - perhaps this would have been better at the other end, up by the restaurant ?

(Morissons and Tesco please take note when building your new stores on the other side of town!) :)

another fine example of good practice gone bad on cycleways by Newport City Council!!

The Northern end of the same cyclepath as my previous photo.

Yes its "good practice" to slow people down at road junctions but why shoud have to lift my bike OVER the adjacent gate ?? This is damned ridiculous in the extreme!!

Whilst I appreciate that there is a need to control access to cycle ways , this is damned ridiculous! My Bike is a heavyweight german "Trekking" bike that had to be LIFTED OVER the adjacent (locked) gate once all the pannier bags of shopping were taken off and my son's trailer-bike removed.

For the record, my bar extensions fit FULLY onto the legacy handebars and do not extend them width wise

Access to the cycle path from the junction of Nash Road / Broad Street Common

behind the railings you can see the blue "traffic calming" measures at the start of the cycle path
which are perfectly placed to knock chunks off your chainset / stays and even tip off your rear panniers!

Approach with caution and DEFINITELY dismount with a trailer bike!

yet another section of cycle / footpath neglected by Newport City Council highways dept.

The undergrowth now occupies over 50% of the available cycle lane width.

Although not very busy the road here is frequented mainly by LARGE HGV's

I think the council must think all cyclists are rather short!

Almost impossible to cycle properly along this path until they chop the trees back !

There are some additionally a few trees you can lock to by Asda Living

I mentioned the lack of cycle parking elsewhere in the park to one of the security staff who agreed and said he would raise the matter with the Landlord
